Reading List
Listed below are the top seven books we
encourage our students to read.
Business and Innovation:
Tom Peters wake-up call to American business. If you live in
America today then this book is required reading. An absolute call to
arms. Get mad, get energized and get ready to change. It is time
to re-imagine your products, your business, your schools, your career,
and your life.
Innovative ideas, process, and products do not automatically
sell themselves. A technology that is revolutionary, highly beneficial,
and highly profitable to the customer may still take months, years,
decades or even centuries to diffuse into the marketplace. Don't
believe us? Perhaps Everett Rogers will be more convincing. A must read
for anyone selling or promoting innovative software products.
One of the few management books you may ever read that is
actually grounded in data and research. Use the knowledge in this book
to better manage your business, your teams, your employees, and
yourself.
Disruptive technologies may be seen as disturbing change or
awesome opportunities. We encourage you to understand the difference.
High-Tech Anthropology®:
This book, more than any other, explains why we staff our
High-Tech Anthropology® teams the way we do: without any developers.
Most of the teams we present this book to thoroughly enjoy reading it.
Unfortunately, they usually never realize that they ARE THE INMATES!
This book changes lives. Affectionately referred to as "The
Red Pill" (from the movie The Matrix) Norman's simple text forever
changes how you view the world and the people who design its'
things.
If you've read "About Face" and you think you don't
need to get this version, think again. Not merely an updated second
edition, About Face 2.0 is really a significantly new book, and a
required resource in any High-Tech Anthropologists toolkit. It provides
insight into the process, tools, and techniques of designing a software
product's user interface.
