As reported by Matt Roush in the Great Lakes IT Report for Wednesday June 20, 2004 Still more cool Menlo Briefs: My new favorite monthly e-newsletter comes from the Menlo Institute, the Ann Arbor software development training shop, and it's called Menlo Briefs. The June issue again does not disappoint, offering a few really interesting items. Like: what's the upside of not having any privacy? Well, an author in Reason says there is one -- infosharing among companies cuts costs, including interest rates "two full percentage points lower" than they would be otherwise. Then there's this story from Wired bashing the auto industry for having an intentionally bad interface on cars, in order to make it very difficult for us to service our own cars, thus sustaining the legion of auto dealerships. Interesting stuff.
